The first coin from the new "Hunters by Night" series.  It presents an image of a black panther. Both the reverse and the obverse of the coin have been covered with obsidian - an efflorescent rock composed almost exclusively of volcanic glaze! It is created as a result of immediate cooling of magma (lava). On the obverse there is an image of the night sky.  The high relief of the reverse makes the panther seem extremely realistic.  The black panther is in fact a jaguar. This species is characterised by a changeable colouration. Melanistic specimens meet regularly. Such a Jaguar seems to be completely black, but you can see the molecules on it from close up. The black variety is rarer than the form with clearly visible spots, it belongs to about 6% of the population.
